This course focuses on understanding the basics of implanted ports. The various types of ports and port features will be addressed. Key aspects relative to patient and nurse safety and risk related reduction during the port access procedure and during the period of time when the port will remain accessed will be highlighted. Potential complications will be reviewed as well as important aspects of patient education.
